Conversion Chicken Wordpress Installation Instructions

Requirements

You will need a web server with both php and MySQL installed. You will also need to be able to upload files to that web server and create a new MySQL database.

You will need to install a new copy of the Conversion Chicken on every blog, you cannot share the Conversion Chicken across multiple blogs.

Note: With Wordpress you do not need to put the <?php include 'splittest/splittest.php'; ?> at the top of your posts, this is done automatically by the plugin

Instructions
  • Go into your webhosting control panel and create a new MySQL Database named whatever you like, you don't need to put any data in this database.
  • Upload the entire splittest folder to the plugins folder of your wordpress blog.
  • Go to <yourblogaddress>/wp-content/plugins/splittest or if the splittest folder is in another folder go there (eg. http://www.yoursite.com/blog/wp-content/plugins/splittest )
  • From there the installer will run which will guide you through the rest of the installation process. Be sure to type in the MySQL Database name as the name of the new database you just created.
  • After the Installer has run, go to your wordpress blog, then navigate to the plugins page and click activate on the Conversion Chicken plugin
  • Now you need to install exec-PHP to use PHP code in your blog posts. You can grab exec-PHP from http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/exec-php/
  • Follow the exec-PHP instructions to install it (basically just upload it to the plugins folder of your blog and enable it from within you blog plugins page)
  • Go into your blog control panel and in the top right you'll see your username, click on your username.
  • Now you will come to a page with your Profile, tick the option box marked "Disable the visual editor when writing" This Must be Done Or The Conversion Chicken Will Not Work
  • If you have the WP-Cache plugin installed, you will need to disable it by going to settings -> WP-Cache, then clicking the big button at the top marked "disable it". Just disabling the plugin from the plugins screen Will Not Work (as far as I can tell), you have to go into WP-Cache in the Settings and click Disable. This step is also critical, the Conversion Chicken may appear to work without it, but it won't work correctly.
  • You're all done, now you can use the Conversion Chicken in your blog posts as if you are working on a sales page and all the instructions below apply to you.
